Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a professional permit consultant?

No! We welcome anyone with local permit expertise - former city officials, business owners who've navigated permits, industry consultants, or anyone with deep knowledge of their jurisdiction's regulatory processes.

How much time does it take?

Initial verification typically takes 2-4 hours depending on how many permits you're verifying. Quarterly updates usually take 1-2 hours to review and confirm information is still current.

Is there any compensation?

This is currently a volunteer program. The main benefits are professional visibility, building your reputation as a local expert, and helping your community. We're exploring compensation models for the future.

What if I make a mistake?

No problem! Permit information changes frequently, and mistakes happen. You can update information anytime, and we have a community review process to catch errors. We value accuracy over perfection.

Can I contribute to multiple jurisdictions?

Absolutely! If you have expertise in multiple cities or counties, you can verify permits for all of them. Just indicate all your areas of expertise in your application.

How do I stop being a contributor?

You can step down anytime by contacting us. We just ask for reasonable notice so we can find someone to maintain your permits. Your previous contributions will remain credited to you unless you request removal.
